Riding
Household Railways
A video dedicated to everyone who has
dreamed of riding aboard a model train.
Until
recently, model railroad enthusiasts had to be content viewing their
creations from the perspective of a giant. With the advent of
high-resolution, ultra-miniature cameras, all that has changed. This
video will transform you into G-Scale, as you ride and become one with a
variety of very unique model railways.

Woodland
Railway is a massive wooded
backyard layout meandering through live miniature trees, track-work,
buildings, bridges and tunnels.

Living Room Railway is a complex of switches, crossovers, poles
and overhead wire encircling the room as the pet cat looks on.

Household Railway has the run of the house with LGB trains
traveling through five rooms, around furniture, over switch work, past
rail yards and stations.

Garden Railway has a western theme with a passenger train winding
its way through a town on its journey from yesteryear.

Electric Tramway portrays a nighttime, rush-hour exodus from a
foggy European town, across the river and into the countryside.
The Electric Tramway segment
is Bill's favorite created just for this video. The track, overhead
wires and scenery stretched 50 feet across the studio. Creative lighting
simulated night and a fog machine provided a surrealistic effect. The
lights in the LGB tram cars do not dim when stopping for passengers
because the traction motor is powered separately.

The
perspective of the viewer is reduced to the scale of the models
themselves. How was it done? The video was shot with a tiny
broadcast-quality camera called a lipstick camera. It was mounted
track-side and aboard the model trains, traveling over track work and
under catenary wires for unbelievable realism. Each segment is cut to
music, and except for the introduction, there is no narration to
distract the viewer from becoming totally immersed.

Riding Household Railways received excellent reviews from Model
Railroader and Garden Railways magazines, and won First Place honors at
the Eleventh Annual ITVA Maryland Video Festival. This is a video the
entire family will enjoy.
